Mission Statement
Vision
The vision of the Coastal Chordsmen is to be a respected group of singers in the barbershop style, known for their harmony, fellowship, and commitment to service and education.
Credo
Community - We believe in service to our community, both locally and in the world at large; and in the ability of our singing to lift the spirit and bring joy. We shall make charitable contributions of money, pro bono performances for community causes, and support to music education both in the schools and for all those who wish to learn more about our tradition and art form.
Society - We believe in the BHS, its goals, ethics, activities, and support to charities and music education.
Chapter - We believe in ourselves as an inclusive, enthusiastic, participating chapter within the Society; in the value of working with other chapters to further our musical, fellowship, and educational goals in the larger community; and in expanding our chapter by sharing the opportunity with other harmony-minded men.
Chorus - We believe in singing together to the best of our abilities; in performing for our community; in a process of constant improvement; and in the opportunity to compete with other choruses to benchmark our respective abilities.
Quartets - We believe in fostering the formation of quartets in our chapter, and in supporting them with a program that encourages their growth and opportunities; we believe quartetting is of paramount importance to the life of the chapter and in the growth of each one of us as an individual, as a singer, and as a self-reliant chorus member.
Individuals - We believe in the mutual support of our members, respecting their individual differences and talents, maintaining a high level of personal appearance in performances, providing opportunities for their continuing education, and rejoicing in our wondrous gift to join together in song.
